Episode 7 - In and around Serre Chevalier

Having to much fun to sit down editing the winter!=P Now though it will be some edits from the end of our trip thrown out in short intervals before the summer are here for real!

In this episode we hang out in our friends place in Serre Chevalier, and doing some trips to nearby resorts Abries and Sestriere! Average french life with eating snails, drinking wine and shredding among the trees in what is pretty close to powder..

Unfortunately Sam was injuring his foot pretty bad among these days during one of our only photosessions and had to chill for a bit before leaving the eurotrip early and recover home in Sweden. Buuut after some days at home he still took the chance to go with our french friends in Pyat Crew for a trip to Finland to shoot urban stuff with the crew, filmers and a photographer. Way to go!!=D

More to come! Enjoy!=)

Caballo Loco

We had troubles to convert the material from our epic pow days of the first days back in France.
So we decided to make this edit first:

We got an invite to this competition from our new found friend Fredrik Schullström that is hanging out in Serre Chevalier.
We knew that it was going to be something with horses and a BBQ but we could never expect that it would be this crazy!

In a valley half an hour from civilisation, there was this horse ranch.
They had put up with a groundbreaking snowboard event were we were towed in by horses in a course with rails and jumps. Like wakeboarding!
All in a legit gipsy atmosphere with dogs running around averywhere, horse shit, hobo´s making up fire, a live mariachi band, flamenco girls and Zorro in real live person.

This was for sure the most extraordinary event we have been on and we are proud to say that Erik shreded home the first price of Caballo Loco 2011!

Sammy gets hurt

After St Moritz we followed the snowforecast with a reported dump back to Serre Chevalier in France. We managed to get a couple of days with freshies but then it got warm again and the snow became heavy. As one of the goals for this trip was to get some pictures taken we had been looking for potential spots to shoot. Close to Sestriere in Italy (where we had some good pow before) we had seen some old ruins that we thought would match up to our request.

This day it was blazing hot and as we cruised down in the forest on our way to the ruins we found this tube shaped barn. It smelled of Cows so I guess it´s their hangout in the summertime.
As it looked cool we decided to hit it for some pictures. A few tries with nosegrab tailtap i went for a miller flip over it. As the landing was just deep super heavy snow this was not a good idea. I got stuck with the board in the snow and my body was still rotating. Click, and i sprained my ankle. Which was worse than i thought at first as i ended up with a snapped of ligament and damage on the cartilage. Damn!

So it was chilling time and rehab for me after this with hopes of riding again as soon as possible. It sucks but it´s nothing to be frustrated over as it comes with the territory to get injured.

Episode 5 - St Moritz goes Engadine Snow Show

Back on track!
After staying with our friends in Serre Chevalier and shredding Vars for some days we turned our mobile home towards european luxary skimecca St. Moritz.
Dolce Gabanna, Luis Vitton, Rolex and all thinkable fancypants-brands had stores all over the place and the rich ladies with furs wraped around their neck seem to be a bigger group than the shredders there.=P
Anyhows, we were on spot to look for some pow and shred two competitions! Me(Erik) in the Engadine World Freeride Qualifier and Sam in the Engadine 4star TTR slopestyle.
We had a sick week with the first close-to-be powder turns of the trip and some fun comps where we both did alright!
I where loosing my line totally from what I thought I would take when watching it from the bottom. First time I got to pick a line from the bottom without walking in the face, freaking hard gotta say!=P But I made my way down dropping some smaller cliffs and not sitting on my ass anything, so I'm happy with my first comp in this way!
Sam where doing a really good qualification throwing some good lines in the slopestyle, but when it came to the finalday the wind was scetching it up making the speed bad for his tricky plans!
I placed 11th out of 29 and Sam 28 out of 50.
Now, check out our edit from St Moritz!=D

Next episode we shred pow near Serre Chevalier with swedish hiphoplegend Petter! Random gotta say!=P Stay tuned!

peace

Vars - the park!

Bonjour!
My french is getting pretty freaking amazing, gotta say.

When the snow wasn't showing up in Serre, we did some daytrips to french resort Vars for finding out if it really was France best park, as we been told from our french homies earlier on this trip.
And there we were for four supersweet days! The park was really killing it and we had a chat with the Arnaud de Bluye that runs the park about he's future plans for their park.
Arnaud was telling us how he during the last three years been building up this park from nearly nothing to what it is today, with around 80 kickers, rails and other jibfeatures. But he wont stop quite yet! This guy tells us plans of making Vars the next big thing on the Park-scene.. worldwide!

For our visit the lack of snow was putting sticks in the wheels(swedish expression..) for what was suppose to be 5 straight black kickers and alot of other snowfeatures that usually is up this time a year. But the loads and loads of rails and boxes got us more than happy for this time, and we are superstoked to get back here springtime to do some serious shredding!=)

Follow us and our new french friends through a lap from the top to the bottom of the mountain, in the three parks that are linked together!
boooyaka!

Serre Chevalier, first round up!

After the car breakdown and some sweet touristing in Torino, “we” got our lazy car moving again, and were on the roads heading for Serre Chevalier!
Our friends from home, Anna and Milla, are renting a kickass 70s-show apartment in one of the villages around the resort with four beds in it. Jackpot baby! Here we got to stay for a while without any stress, and for the first time on the trip we could pack up our filthy underwear and get some descent sleep-ins in the morning for a while.=P
It had been dumping some white gold one week prior to our arrival in places around Serre, but it didn’t really show anymore. We continued our streak on hitting warm pleasant bluebird skies instead, and were driving around Serre and nearby Italian resorts for a few days, having a good time with out friends!

Although, we still had one special place in mind that we’d heard about from our french collony of Santa-Cruz shreddingfriends. Apparently Vars was the place to be! A french mountain that three years back in time had two small jumps and some boxes to brag about. Now though, they are puking out rails, boxes, treefeatures and bigjumps in all shapes and colors. We were told this was European parkridings next big thing. They are aming to be the nr1 park in the freaking wooorld! Crazy.
In the next days we’ll put up an edit from our visit there! Stay tuned!=D
I shred myself to bed. Nighty.

Our car suck ass!

The fairytail continues! On our way to Serre Chevalier our car got dissapointed over us making some wrong turns on Italian highways, and chosed to take a rest in the middle of a loong tunnel of heavy traffic.
That cars and engines really not are our cup of tea we already knew, but got even more obvious with us trying to find out the problem. With some help it was sorted out to be some sweet generatorproblemos, and we had to be toed to a nearby village for some professional consulting. The car were left in the hands of hustling mechanics meanwhile we made a trip into Turino for touristmissions.
Eating good food and going cultural with doing europes biggest cinemamuseum killed some time while waiting for the car to be ready to roll.

Eager to turn the trip into a snowtrip again we once again were on the way to Serre Chevalier, a bit less rich but a lot wiser on the movies history!

La CLuzas, France

In la Cluzas Sam had some business to be done with International team manager of Santa Cruz, getting hooked up on some new gear for the season! It happened to be time for french snowboard showroom for all next years stuff. So there we were cruising at the arena in the never ending sun for two days, staying at the hotel of french Santa Cruz team and they’re crew. Never ever did I see people eat so much melted cheese in one night as these guys did! Impressive gotta say!!

We also took some runs in the miniminipark with swedish snowboardlegend Hampus Mosesson, that happened to be there representing his new sponsor. We got the honour to document his first time ever on a rockerboard, after all these years of rockerhype in the snowboardworld. After one run Holy Moses still wasn’t to stoked about the bananathing though, and are still claiming it's a fling that will be gone soon enough!

One of the days before leaving La Cluzas I went to Les Contamines to drink some Crystal (not really, but at least it was sparkling) with my buddy from back home, Anna Holmlund. This after seeing her winning third place in Skicross World Cup. Big ups to her!=D

Then again we turn the ignition on and we were of to Serre Chevalier!
So long!

Episode 2 - La CLuzas, Franc

EuroShred 2011 - Episode 1, Avoriaz

Hollar hamigos!
Welcome to EuroShred 2011! We're superstoked that you found your way here, and hope you gonna have a good time seeing what we will be up to this winter! We will mainly fill this blog with videos, but also some photos and text. You'll find out more about us and our mission for the winter in the rightlane of this page!

In the very first episode of EuroShred you’ll join us going bananas on healthy junkfood in swedish falafelmecca Malmö, before a long drivingmission down Europe.
With the alps aking for snow in front of us, we followed snow-forecast.com for win or lost when they were hinting fresh powder in french, mid-east mountainresort Avoriaz/Morzine.
After two nights of sleeping like babies with our summer sleepingbags in the trunk of our car, we were finally in the slopes and shredding.. slush!!
The pow that(for real!?) fell from the skys a few days ago was already warm and wet, so the early january trip start with some sweet springriding in the parks of Avoriaz!=D
We were staying at the resort for 3 days, having some good times shredding and meeting up with fun people before hitting the road again.
We had an awesome time! BUT, the potential of this place when lots of snow actually fills the mountain is so obvious, that another visit here feels like a have-to-happen soon enough the pow is alive! Some crazy parks(especially the huge woodpark ”The Stash”) combined with a playful mountain of rad freeriding are spelled real awesomeness to us.
We’ll be back Avoriaz, sooner or later!
After Avoriaz we were pointing our avocadogreen stallion towards La Cluzas, to meet up with Santa Cruz team and hang out with old friends.
